Image Metadata

An integral step in Film Solutions' system of sorting, storing and distributing image assets is the embedding of metadata into each image file. Image metadata is structured information relevant to the specific image, such as persons, objects and locations; when it was created and by whom; technical characteristics such as camera settings, image format and resolution; and rights related information (copyright, usage rights).

We meticulously tag every submitted image of metadata based on international standards (EXIF and IPTC). This is essential for a seamless photo workflow and enables effortless PC or Mac-based keyword searches. In contrast, a simple text search often leads to limited and irrelevant results, which requires a great deal of human interaction and can result in unacceptable delays.

Key metadata benefits:

  • Provides ready access to information that is essential for creating an image management system and workflow automation
  • Brings order to a chaotic flood of photo stills
  • Enables flexible, effortless search and retrieval of images across diverse operating systems
  • Improved workflow and increased production efficiency
